Half Birthday...

Bella,

You are 6 months! Your mommy and daddy have no clue why time flies this fast, but it does/is. Here is a small recap of where you are and what you have done over the past month:

~ You went to the doctor and confirmed my fears that you may. In fact, be short like your mom. You had only grown a quarter of an inch at most since your 4 month check up. The nurse re-checked your height because at first it looked like you hadn't grown at all... We gotta get some growing juice in you.
~Your head circumference was 17 inches... For what that is worth...
~You weighed 15 lbs and 12.7 oz. that's 2 lbs and 4 oz in 2 months! Way to go! You really put on some between two days before your half birthday and the appointment (3 days later) because you were 15 lbs even at that doctors appointment.
~You have really gotten good at sitting up on your own for extended periods of time. Our friends (Rachel, Donny, and Junior) came to visit and they were all impressed. I think you wanted to figure out how to chase Junior around...give it a few months and you will be all over it.
~You continue to sleep on your own, though, you have managed a way to spend an occasional night in bed with mom and dad. Some how, we have to fix it.
~We are also trying to wean you into sleeping somewhere (other than mom or dad's arms) for your nap. We'll see how that goes..
~We have just started to feed you solids, but you seem to really like it. We have gone back and forth on whether do Baby Led Weaning or baby food and I think we are going to do both.
~You are also in the process of transitioning to only formula. This is a hard and touchy subject for your mom, but the time has come to for this to happen. We agreed on 6 months and here we are.
~ You smile all the time and are such a happy baby. It's so wonderful to have a sweet girl like you. We are definitely spoiled.
~You are such a ham. I swear, a new person (especially of the male gender) or a camera pops out and here comes the smiles and tricks. There are lots of people who love you and want to take you home. However, momma is kinda protective (so is daddy).
~You went to the zoo for the first time this month. Not sure if you really understood what was going on, but you seemed to enjoy it more from mom and dad's arms rather than your stroller..
~You also went to see your great granddad in the hospital this month. This was a very difficult decision for your parents as hospitals aren't the best for babies (unless the baby is the one in need of the care being provided) to visit. Your great grandad has been sick since just after Christmas. He was having to make some difficult decisions. We wanted to make sure you two got to spend some time together. *On a side note: He is doing really better and is being taken to a long term care facility next week*
~Speaking of your parents, they tease you about whether you are a momma's girl or a daddy's girl. Who knows?!?! You definitely love both of them LOTS.

Bella,
I'm sorry this has taken so long to write. Your daddy and I love to spend time with you and it's hard to make time away from you to write these notes. I know it is important and something we want to do. We love you so much, sweet girl. Your smile lights up a room and our hearts. We love watching you grow and change each day. Seeing you sit up on your own is so cool. We know that you are slowly turning from our sweet infant to our precious baby and on your way to our cute toddler. You will continue to grow and we will continue to sigh and laugh and watch you wishing the time would slow down. We are trying to capture as much of this time with you - sometimes with our cameras, but mostly with our laughter, smiles, and memories. We enjoy watching your firsts and being a part of the reason you smile and laugh. May you continue to grow, learn, smile, laugh, and love every day. We are so proud of you! We can't wait to see what happens next with you! At the same time, we miss the days we have experienced with you and try to treasure each day as we are living it. We hope you will take that attitude toward life as you grow up! We love you more and more each day and will for eternity!

Love Always,

Mom and Dad
