23 Weeks...It's going so fast!

I'm 23 weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 23 Weeks
Size of baby:  11 inches from crown to toes…the size of a large mango and she weighs  just over  1 pound.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained ~7 lbs according to the doctor last week plus what I’ve gained. According to my scale, I’m at ~10 lbs. (Yes, I haven’t gained anything this week…more details below.)
Maternity Clothes: Pants.  All else is regular. I am having to pick and choose on shirts because they are getting shorter.
Gender:  It’s a precious baby girl!
Movement: Every day.  She is getting stronger in her kicks.
Sleep: I'm sleeping poorly, but I don’t think that has anything to do with the pregnancy.
What I miss: Well for part of the week, it was food. Once I had food, it was energy.
Cravings: Cake and Sweets and Mexican
Symptoms:  Growth pains. Jabs and flips. Definitely the stomach is growing. Kidney Stones….
Best Moment this past week:  On Sunday, I started having pain and by Monday we were at the hospital, Tuesday they operated to remove the kidney stones (after finding them), and discharged me on Wednesday. The only good news of the hospital was that we got to see another ultrasound of our baby girl. She is a show off. The ultrasound tech confirmed that she is still a she (no surprise for me there…). Despite the not fun week, the ultrasound was definitely my bright spot.

Thankful Thursday

1. For my husband who has been putting up me and my moodiness. (laying around is not my norm)..he is amazing!
2. For my mom who left yesterday and came back this afternoon to take care of me. She rocks! Poor lady hasn't realized how grumpy I am...that or she is still willing to put up with me.
3. For my aunt and uncle who sent me a beautiful flower arrangement! As well as for all of the other family and friends who have been checking in on me and making sure I'm okay.
4. That my doctor told me I couldn't go back to work til Monday because otherwise I would be trying to go back and probably be in a worse condition. I have a hard time resting and not working which makes for a moody and grumpy person (which is why I'm super thankful for items 1 and 2).
5. For a good night's sleep of 10+ hours. I thought I wasn't tired and that I had gotten a TON of sleep while I was on the hospital, but I guess getting interrupted every couple of hours for vitals and other random events makes for very little good sleep.

2:30 AM on Wednesday

5 Things at 2:30 (ok, 2:35) on Wednesay*:

1. God, who has listened to many of my (and others) prayers and answered them with love, health, and peace.
2. My husband, who has been a dream thru this adventure in life.
3. My mom, who dropped everything to be by my side. She has helped in so many ways.
4. My other immediate family and friends who have shown such love and support. So many people have called, texted, stopped by, and/or prayed for Baby Girl and me.
5. The doctors and hospital staff who have taken good care of Baby Girl and me and have put me back on the road towards healthy.
6. Baby Girl, who has been thru this (because she didn't have much choice) and has been so good and is still healthy. My continued prayer is for her health and well-being from this adventure and thru the rest of these 19 weeks.

Okay so there were 6. They aren't in the best order. (Baby Girl should probably be a tied 2nd.) Though, I feel blessed by all 6. I'm sure you are dying to know what I'm talking about and my running my mouth (er, post) in circles is driving you crazy. The short answer is that I have been in the hospital since early Monday with what we know now was kidney stone pain. My right kidney was completely blocked by small kidney stones causing a great deal of pain with no normal signs of a kidney stone being present. Yesterday (Tuesday), the urulogoist found the blockage and performed surgery shortly there after to remove the blockage. He suceeded in clearing the blockage. Yay! I'm currently up, still somewhat recovering from it. I'm sure there will be more recovery (and pain, too). I'm sure I will write more later, but now it's time for sleep (again!)!

*For whatever reason I couldn't post this from the hospital. The good news is that I was released Wednesday morning. I have spent the past day on the couch or in the bed. Kinda getting stir-crazy over here....

Life Happens

I was going to try to update this thing tonight (plan as of yesterday). Unfortunately, life happens and I'm not quite where I can update this and be coherent. :( I'll try when I can....

Sunny Monday

1. Thankful for the sun (trying hard not to complain about the heat because I know it's just gonna get worse....)
2. Thankful for finding items that make me reminisce about the days of highschool and college.
3. Thankful for those "unanswered" prayers. I am thankful that I've married the man of my dreams and we have a life that surpasses my dreams.
4. Thankful for a sister-in-law who sends me sweet texts.
5. Thankful for friends who can make me laugh even though they live 4+ (and some 8+) hours away.

Definitely feeling blessed today! Finding a bag of keepsakes from highschool and college was definitely fun to go thru. I've learned alot of lessons along the way and would trade my experiences for anything. I'd write a whole post on it, but I'm exhausted.

Mother's Day and other ramblings

I'd like to first apologize for the fantastic job I have done at ignoring this blog (yes lots of sarcasm, I really am very sorry I have been ignoring this thing because it will help in a year or 5 with what I was thinking/feeling). I am sorry I am not updating things. You see, as I have energy, I have made the decision to declutter the house. I forsee SEVERAL trips to our "good-will" and lots of full trash cans in my future. Besides that and spending time with the hubs and the dogs and working, I'm sleeping because decluttering is tiring.

Alright, now that I've apologized. On to the main topic, Mother's Day.

I'd love to tell you Mother's Day is my FAVORITE holiday. Well, okay, I'd be lying. But you have to know that it is ONE of my favorites. Holidays, growing up in my family, have always been a big deal. I'm not talking presents (though some include those), but every holiday meant a HUGE family gathering (I'm talking 20ish people). I grew up close to my cousins and aunts, not to mention the grandparents. So every holiday (and birthday), we typically congregated somewhere to eat and visit. Moving to TX, I gave up most of those holidays, especially the ones like Mother's Day where there were no 3 day weekends associated with it. I never realize the extent of what I gave up or how much I missed these type  of holidays.

This Mother's Day is very different, yet very familiar to me. First, it was the first Mother's Day since I was married that I spent with my Mom. The Hubs and I will celebrate our 5 year anniversary in June, so you can do the math. If you haven't figured it out, I'm a Momma's Girl. Don't get me wrong, I ADORE my father, but I'm my Mom's Daughter. It has been extremely special to me to get to spend a day with her, devoted to her.

Second, it was the first Mother's Day without my Mom's mom here on earth. To tell you that Mother's Day isn't the same with out her only scratches at the surface. To have to go to a cemetery to visit what is left of her is painful. I know she is in a better place, but it doesn't hurt the people she has left behind any less. We (Granddad, all of my aunts except one, two uncles, four grandkids - including me, and the one attached greatgrandchild) all went to visit her this afternoon. It doesn't feel the same. In many ways, it was very theraputic for me to go. I miss her so much and in my own selfish way wishes she was here for me to call and tell her about her first great granddaughter. I know, though, that she is smiling down from heaven and keeping vigilant watch over us.

Third, it was my first Mother's Day. I know, my baby girl is still physically attached to me (inside), but that does not make her any less mine. Maybe it's the hormones that have me emotional about these changes. I feel like I'm changing in many ways (definitely my waist size is!), but yet at times feel like I'm the same girl woman I was 6 months ago. I hope that I can be half of the type of mother to our Baby Girl that my mother and grandmothers have been to me.

In many ways, today was like Mother's Days of the past. We gathered together. We ate and visited, laughed and cried, shared our lives with our family. I got to spend time with my mom and my dad's mom as well as lots of other family. And I'm grateful. Grateful to God for the path he set forth about a year ago that would bring us back to Arkansas. To a place where we have made a home. I only hope that we are making him proud of us. And I'm grateful for this Mother's Day and every day where I have the opportunity to share my life with others. I'm grateful that I get to spend days like this with my family (immediate and extended).
